Buckwheat which is also known as groats can be confused for a grain for the way that it’s eaten, but it’s actually a seed. Although it does differ from most seeds as it contains more starch than fat.

Buckwheat has started to gaining more popularity in the ‘health food world’ over the past few years because its packed full of nutrients and some even go as far as calling it a superfood. It can be eaten in many different ways - sprinkled on top of a salad or favourite dessert, an ingredient in your homemade granola, used in flour form for baking, or made into a creamy porridge.
